Join your hosts, Phraydoe Peans and Thompson as they discuss Edward Leedskalnin and his coral castle that he built as a labor of love to win his ex bride to be's affection. Edward Leedskalnin was from Latvia. He came to America after being left at the altar. He found his way to Florida after coming down with tuberculosis. Once recovered he purchased some land and got to work building a castle out of oolite limestone with the intentions of winning back his bride to be. With no assistance or modern machinery he used his knowledge of magnets and physics, combined with his skills of stonemasonery from the old country and build this amazing monument. Because he kept his knowledge and techniques severely secret, this construction was an astounding feat to the world as he was small in statue, only 5 feet tall and 100 lbs. After several years he moved his castle 10 miles down the road to where it now stands. He at first charged 10 cents admission but once relocated charged 25 cents. He lived modestly, on the castle grounds and rode his bicycle everywhere. Join them as they discuss his beginnings, his construction of this modern marvel that some refer to as the 8th world wonder, and his legacy. They also talk about the belief that he didn't build this for his ex bride but for his architectural machinery that aided the building of coral castle that could change all modern technology.
