Description

The Young Professionals Podcast (TYPP), proudly brought to you by ADAPT Careers (https://adaptcareers.com.au) and co-hosted by Luke Marriott and Nicholas Sargeant (Sarge).

We’re excited to present this new episode with lawyer Matt Hughes, whose journey to law firm Hall & Wilcox (https://hallandwilcox.com.au) was not via the stereotypical clerkship route.

While completing a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Arts at Monash University (https://www.monash.edu/study/courses/find-a-course/2021/laws-and-arts-l3003), Matt secured two bouts of legal experience at a music and entertainment-orientated law firm servicing creative small businesses.

After completing his degrees, Matt's first job was a 9-month fixed-term contract at Boroondara City Council (https://www.boroondara.vic.gov.au) as an administrator in the planning department.

6 months into his contract, Matt was given the opportunity to work the remaining 3 months as a town planner. This opportunity helped him secure a position as a lawyer at Planning & Property Partners (https://www.pppartners.com.au), where matt worked for 3 years before joining Hall & Wilcox in their property and projects team.
