In one of his letters to the early church, the Apostle Paul directly encouraged them to imitate the humility that Jesus showed during His time on earth. Paul posited that, because they had been made one with Christ, they were to also be united together in valuing one another above themselves. The same is true for us today; division is all around us, and the only way to remain united is to humble ourselves before one another, as Christ humbled Himself before us.
