Description

Stuart Dempster is a renowned sound architect, trombonist, composer, didjeriduist, and professor emeritus at University of Washington. 

He was a founding member of the Deep Listening Band, a legendary group in the world of avant-garde music.

His discography includes such classic ambient-based albums as  “In the Great Abbey of Clement VI ” and “Underground Overlays from the Cistern Chapel” .

In this episode, I speak with Stuart on a variety of topics, including musical spaces, the concept of "deep listening" and paying attention to the sounds all around us.

We also discuss some of his unique and beautifully ambient albums and even his fascination with bells.
