Austin and Tony join me for IF I DIE BEFORE I WAKE, a 1998, rarely-seen straight-to-video home-invasion thriller (good grief, that’s a lot of hyphens), starring Muse Watson of I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER playing, of course, the lead bad guy (clearly not a classically-trained actor).
Shot in 1996, this hidden gem pre-dates FUNNY GAMES, THE STRANGERS, HIGH TENSION, YOU’RE NEXT, DON’T BREATHE, and a slew of similar titles. Featuring a cast of mostly unknowns, with a shoestring budget, IF I DIE BEFORE I WAKE is surprisingly well-done and well worth tracking down.
