Loving this chat with Tiago, two blokes having a chat in a relaxed environment, myself chatting to a tattooed FIFO worker chilling on his couch.
Tiago is a Founder of Mineset, a movement focusing on mental health in the mining industry which values connection.
Their main goal is to #StartTheChat
We spoke about mental health, issues around the mining industry, how we can have impact on a grass roots level talking directly to the blokes at coal face (I think thats a pun).
We also spoke about 2 amazing topics:
- the importance of culture and how focussing on evolving it so that "Starting the Chat" isn't something that is awkward but something that is just what we do.
- Emotional intelligence, looking within for your triggers and reactions, communication and understanding in your relationship and its importance in FIFO life and empathy and understanding for other blokes and what they might be going through and how you can actively say "I'm showing up" to help them #startthechat
So basically....shit that blokes normally chat about right!
