Description

This pose is another favorite of mine. It can be used at the beginning of a yoga sequence or at the end. It’s a beautiful counterpose to backbends and it’s also a warm up for deeper backbends. There are several modifications and variations. This pose is suitable for beginners.

Sanskrit: Bandha Sarvangasana (SAY-too BAHN-duh shar-vahn-GAHS-uh-nuh)
”Setu” — meaning “bridge”
”Bandha” — meaning “lock”
”Sarva” — meaning “all”
“Anga” — meaning “limb”
”Asana” — meaning “pose”
