Listen

Description

This is not the same splits you’ll find in dance or cheerleading!

Listen! I include common modifications and variations you’re probably already doing!

Even though in the full expression this pose is extremely advanced and possibly not attainable, ever. There are some great modifications and variations you’re probably already doing! Half-Split is very popular, I call it “Runner’s Stretch” an intense hamstring stretch.

The “full” variation with blocks can be a great hip flexor opener, and even splits up the wall feels good for most yoga practitioners.

The Sanskrit name for this pose, "Hanumanasana" (HAH-new-mahn-AHS-uh-nuh), is named after the Hindu monkey god, Hanuman. In an ancient story, Hanuman took one giant leap all the way from India to Sri Lanka, and then one more leap to return to India. Hanumanasana mimics his leap! By practicing the pose on each side, you become like Hanuman, soaring to a new country and returning home.

Enjoy & incorporate it into your personal practice!

NAMASTE!
