On this episode of The Last Line, James chats with wildlife filmmaker and presenter Gordon Buchanan. Gordon began his career as a camera assistant to for survival cameraman Nick Gordon and has since gone on to produce variety of wildlife documentaries for the BBC including The Polar Bear Family & Me which famously saw Gordon sitting inside a transparent cube while a polar bear tried to gain entry. Gordon has recently returned from Russia where he has been filming a new programme that is expected to air around Christmas time about the re-introduction to the wild of lynx that have been kept as pets or captured by huntsman.
During their conversation, James and Gordon talk about his new project, the impact of climate change on the natural world and what we as a society must do to prevent it and the ethical questions of wildlife filmmaking.
