El día 10 de mayo del año 1912 se inauguró la Estación Mapocho, en ese entonces sólo estación ferroviaria. La antiguamente llamada Estación del Mercado, estuvo inserta en la serie de obras urbanísticas del Centenario de la República de Chile.
