1) Idols are wordless; only the Lord is to be feared (vv. 1-10).

2) Idols are worthless; only the Lord is the Creator (vv. 11-18).

3) Idols are helpless; only the Lord is our Guide (vv. 19-25).

Four questions for application:

1. What occupies my mind when I have nothing else to think about?
2. What do I spend my money on?
3. What is my daily, functional salvation?
4. What is at the root of my most uncontrollable emotions?
