Doctrine of Salvation: Evangelism and Sanctification

Chris Hefner

Three primary truths about sanctification and sharing the gospel:

  1. When we share the gospel, we are participating in our sanctification
  2. Sharing the gospel requires faith in God to save, the power of God’s Word and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit
  3. Faithfulness in sharing the gospel is obedience

Practical Steps in Obedient Evangelism

Obedient evangelism requires intentionality: in prayer, opportunities, conversations, and relationships.

Remember the three t’s: Text, testimony, and tools.

Memorize the texts of Scripture that communicate the gospel: Romans 3:23; 5:8; 6:23; 10:9-10; 10:13; 2 Cor. 5:21; Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Peter 2:24; Gospel story.

Write down and share your own testimony.

Learn an evangelism tool.

Transitions: How to Turn Everyday Conversations Toward the Gospel

Connect the questions and conversation to Scripture.

Theological Takeaway: Because it is God who saves by the power of the gospel, we only need be messengers.

Worship Takeaway: Our mission of leading our neighbors and the nations begins with worship because that is the ultimate purpose of following Jesus.

Evangelistic Takeaway: Be intentional. Practice. Share.
