Dr. Christian Shorey received a B.S. in Geology, a minor in Zoology. and a teaching degree from the University of Texas at Austin in '93, After teaching 8th grade Earth Science for a year he moved on to get a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa using cave formations to unravel past climates, and then transitioned into a faculty member there, which eventually led to his current position as the introductory geology teacher and assistant department head of the department of Geology and Geological engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. He has been very focused on educational outreach in the past few years and in that role has created the Earth and Environmental Systems Podcast, and is currently working on the Earth Explorations video series. He is also a member of the Climate Rapid Response Team, and joins me to discuss the science behind climate change and other issues.
