Welcome dear listener to First State Kopites. The podcast of the Premier League Champions and still the league leaders. We are going to review Galatasaray away earlier today and consider Palace last Saturday . I’m Paul and today I am joined by Daz and Justin.
Every reaction to both games starts with the result.
Part one - away at Galatasaray
Slot - lot to like in the first half, second half the ball wasn’t in play much
Being refereed by the French Michael Oliver didn’t help with the flow of the game - 66% possession and we ‘commit’ 14 fouls to their 12. A penalty…..
You can say get on with it, but if he calls a foul every time you have a free kick into the box….
And we still had a non-penalty xG of 1.78 to 0.54
Update on Kerkez, Wirtz (Dalglish) and Isak
This doesn’t really matter…
Part Two - away to Palace
Worst first half under Slot? The Palace specific plan did not seem to work.
The goal created a really poor reaction - Ibou, Bradley in particular
Second half - much better - xG of over 2. We had 6 big chances (they had 7 overall)
Could have done with Ekitike. Chiesa!
Ali and Szobo both looked good
Wrap up:
‘It’s finally Arsenal’s year’ - title for the latest ‘It’s called soccer’ Overlap show.
We’ll be back with a preview of the Chelsea game. Thanks to Justin and Daz for joining me, Paul. And most of all, thank you dear listener for joining us.
