Description

In this episode Dr Anne Merriman is now a Roman Catholic Nun with the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMMs), founded by Mother Mary Martin.

Here she talks about graduating in Ireland as a Doctor in 1963.

Now as a newly qualified Doctor with a dream of working in Africa her first post was to work in Nigeria. She shares here medical stories of life in Nigeria.

Having worked for 10 years in Nigeria she heads back to the Medical Missionaries of Mary (MMMs) in Ireland. They want her to get more medical qualifications to specialise as a physician so off she goes to the University of Edinburgh.

After Edinburgh Dr Anne goes back to Nigeria until she follows a new calling. She decides after many years to leave the religious life. Dr Anne comes home to Liverpool look after her Mother. We finish here with her decision in 1973 to leave her permanent vows giving up her life as a nun with the Medical Missionaries of Mary MMMs and come home to Liverpool.
