This is episode 2. I’m your host Dr. Ben Kohls. How are you living your life? It’s a tough question and it’s a question today’s guest was recently asked and one that I hope we can all reflect on. Benson offers his insights on this question and so much more in today’s conversation. Benson recently completed his master’s degree in social work and is now serving as a therapist for Family Services in Sioux Falls, SD. He is also an elite athlete, a running coach, and the Director of Coaching services at 605 Running Company in Sioux Falls. Today Benson shares with us his running journey and the impact community has had on him. He speaks about building personal wellness, hope, and motivation through an intentional process of giving and receiving within his community. It hasn’t been all first place finishes and celebrations for Benson. Like all of us he has experienced setbacks and disappointments, but I have to say that Benson is a model of perseverance and the embodiment of the growth mindset. When he sees a problem or encounters pain, he moves toward it and seeks to grow and develop himself through whatever obstacles he is facing. Benson speaks about the power of showing up in order to cultivate discipline and using goal setting to guide decision making.
