We enlighten the one who is far,
But keep the one close, in bondage
We are to be broken by distance,
If we can’t call closer to home
We work against the neighbor,
But try to reach out to internationals
We take each other for blood brothers,
Yet we still shift each other for money
Monuments can be built in one day,
If we can foster communities of love
We make fun of our shortcomings,
And take pride in our heritage of uniqueness
Pride is enshrined in our multitude of languages,
While customs divide us from understanding us
No trust can be given, if I can’t accept you
No wells filled with money can ever buy trust
So many ways we attribute to being us
But was it the way we are to be called?
