After meeting Mr. Lloyd in the previous chapter, Jane's hopes of going away from Gateshead and being sent to school were highly up. After weeks and weeks of waiting, a mysterious man approaches the mansion, Mr. Brocklehurst, the principal of the Lowood Institute, a school for wicked children, to teach them the Christian way of being humble and grateful.
