जीवनदायी वचन #44: धन का प्रेम और उससे छुटकारा पाने का रास्ता [St. Polycarp] 1 Timothy 6:10
Biblical Guide to Life #44: Love of Money & How to overcome it [St. Polycarp] 1 Timothy 6:10
The world is full of troubles and evil.
What is the basic reason for these?
There is unrest and tension everywhere!
People are searching for peace.
Everything seems to be centering around ONE thing.
What is that ONE thing?
MONEY! LOVE of MONEY!
The wise elderly man, St. Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna (69-155) said,
"धन का प्रेम सभी मुसीबतों की शुरुआत है। इसलिए यह जानकर कि हम दुनिया में न कुछ लेकर आए और न ही कुछ ले जा सकते हैं, हम धार्मिकता के आस्र-शस्त्र धारण करें। और हम सबसे पहले प्रभु की आज्ञाओं का पालन करना सीखें।"
"The love of money is the beginning of all troubles. Knowing, therefore, that we brought nothing into the world and cannot take anything out, let us arm ourselves with the weapons of righteousness, and let us first teach ourselves to follow the commandment of the Lord."
St. Polycarp was burnt alive. His feast is celebrated on February 23.
Money is needed for money.
But, when MONEY becomes the END, and NOT the MEANS, all troubles begin.
LOVE of MONEY is considering it as the END and NOT as MEANS.
St. Paul, writing to Timothy, says,
"धन का लालच सभी बुराईयों की जड़ है। इसी लालच में पड़ कर कई लोग विश्वास के मार्ग से भटक गये और उन्होंने बहुत-सी यन्त्रणाएँ झेलीं।" (1 तिमथी 6:10)
"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, and in their eagerness to be rich some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pains." (1 Timothy 6:10)
Have you ever known how monkeys were caught in the past?
They used to use a narrow-necked container and put some nuts inside.
The monkey would put its hand inside and grab the nuts.
When it pulls out the hand, it won't be able to.
Because the wrist is closed!
What is your view? Will it open the wrist and get released?
NO, it would surrender its freedom, rather than let go of the nuts he has fallen in love with.
It is an unavoidable evil.
How can we overcome it?
St. Polycarp provides us 3 ways to overcome it:
1. The wisdom to be aware of the Fact - we came empty-handed and will go back so.
2. Arm ourselves with the weapons of righteousness.
3. Follow the Commandment of the Lord.
Do you want to continue to be a slave or a free child of God?
