Everyone wants to live for something greater than oneself or one's life.

Very often, we don't realise that we don't have the right to choose the end of our life.

Only God has that right.

God desires that we should become like His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.

How is it possible?

St. Clare of Assisi (1194 - 1253) gives three steps to accomplish that.

She said:

उन पर नजर डालिए; उन पर विचार करिए; उन पर मनन-चिंतन करिए, जैसे आप उनका अनुसरण करने की इच्छा रखते हैं।... उन्हें पूर्ण-रूप से प्यार करिए, जिन्होंने आपके प्यार के लिए अपने आपको पूर्ण-रूप दे दिया।

“Gaze upon Him, consider Him, contemplate Him,

as you desire to imitate Him.

….Totally love Him, Who gave Himself totally for your love.”

1. Gaze upon HIm - उन पर नजर डालिए

2. Consider Him - उन पर विचार करिए

3. Contemplate Him - उन पर मनन-चिंतन करिए

It begins with the senses, leading to the mind and then to become one with God - the object of contemplation.

Who would one become?

It is Christ alone.

St. Paul said,

"मैं अब जीवित नहीं रहा, बल्कि मसीह मुझ में जीवित हैं। अब मैं अपने शरीर में जो जीवन जीता हूँ, उसका एकमात्र प्रेरणा-स्रोत है-ईश्वर के पुत्र में विश्वास, जिसने मुझे प्यार किया और मेरे लिए अपने को अर्पित किया।" (गलातियों के नाम सन्त पौलुस का पत्र 2:20)

"It is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)

To go to heaven, i.e., to become Children of God, we have to become Christ-like.

St. Clare is giving us the way to do it with the help of St. Paul's teaching.
