The Blessed Virgin Mary, the New Eve
There are so many reasons why the Blessed Virgin Mary is called the New Eve. Some of the major reasons are as follows:
In the Salvation History, Eve and the Blessed Virgin Mary played very irreplaceable roles.
Eve was "the mother of all living" (Genesis 3:20), who inherited death from their mother.
The Blessed Virgin Mary is the New Eve, the Mother of all those who are saved in Jesus Christ.
"Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home" (John 19:25-27).
Jesus addressed His Mother "Woman" on two occasions - one at the beginning of HIs Mission as changed water into wine (cf. John 2:1ff) and at the culmination of His Mission at Calvary.
