The Pharisees thought they had a foolproof plan to trap Jesus in His words.
Jesus gives us two truths in His answer: 1. Government is a legitimate, God-given function on the earth. 2. Pay to God the things that are God’s.
What belongs to God?
Psalm 24 - The earth, and all the people in it.
Psalm 139 - Your life belongs to God because He made it.
