In 1942, Duct tape debuted for American soldiers to be adhesive for everything from fixing windows to making temporary bandages. After the war, it is repurposed for ventilation systems and becomes the traditional silver color. In 2001, the company sponsored the first stuck-at-prom contest for promwear made out of duct tape.
