Preparing for Lent - ashes signifying that we are repenting of our sins. Repentance is sorrow for sin with a determination and help from God that we will sin no more. This is not a one-time thing. It is a continuing action to recognize that we are sinners and that we must always work to repent. It is a daily attitude to insure that we are following God's intent for our lives.
