This week we watched "MARY POPPINS RETURNS" the sequel to the beloved Disney classic that starred Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke and a cast of human and animated characters. Taking on the role of the nanny who is practically perfect in every way is Emily Blunt, who gives an original take on the character while being the same Mary we grew up loving as kids. This story takes places many years after Mary Poppins brought the Banks children closer to their estranged father, and upon her return, Mary realizes she has quite the task ahead of her as Michael, now a father himself, is coping with the loss of his wife and the raising of his three highly capable trio of children. Amidst the distress, Michael is about to lose the house that he and his sister Jane grew up in. There are plenty of enjoyable songs and spectacular dance sequences, the whole movie is a very heartfelt addition to the world of magic that only Disney can produce.
