Yo Ho, Yo Ho, here we go again! It's movie number four in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise: "On Stranger Tides." This was the long awaited installment following a extended hiatus that saw the changing of many leaders in the Disney company including one of the producers behind the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. Perhaps it is changing of the guards and the EXTREME trimming of the budget (made for 100 Million dollars LESS than At World's End.) that makes this film feel like it's...missing something.Though we are missing a Will Turner and a Elizabeth...Turner, we still have Captain Jack Sparrow...though he doesn't do much captain-ing in this movie. Gibbs, is back and loyal as ever. Barbossa, a turn-coat Privateer in the service of his Majesty. Jack is in need of an adventure and finds one in an old flame played by the intoxicatingly gorgeous Penelope Cruz who turns out to be the long-lost daughter of Blackbeard himself, played by Ian McShane. Severely watered down supernatural elements and a ragged supporting cast offer some level of fun but may have earned it's reputation as the most disappointing additions to the Pirates of the Caribbean. But don't let that stop you from listening in on the more rewarding elements of the movie. Email us with questions, comments and ideas for future episodesdisneychannelsurfers@gmail.comFollow us on InstagramListen to us on Spotify or wherever you listen to podcastsJoin us for the final film in our voyage through the Pirates of the Caribbean movies with "Dead Men Tell No Tales"
