This week we watched this sci-fi adventure movie, "STAR KID" starring Joseph Mazello (the kid from Jurassic Park) and featuring some dated but fun 90's era costume and set design and some CGI that kinda holds up.
Spencer is a shy, comic book loving new kid at school who is bullied by a kid named Turbo. He has no real friends, can't seem to talk to any girls, other than his awesome teacher Ms. Halloway, and is neglected by his workaholic father. One night, Spencer observes a falling object in the sky and follows it to a nearby wrecking yard. There is a strange shuttle that has crashed and inside is a humanoid, metallic cyber-suit that requires a human host to operate and thus begin's a very strange and action-packed adventure as Spencer finds himself sealed inside the cybersuit which has it's own consciousness in the form of a Obtimus Prime-sounding A.I. that they decide to refer to as "Cy." After some awkward testing of the suit's capabilities, Spencer soon finds himself having to go toe-to-toe with a terrifying alien in a desperate attempt to save the planet. It's weird, but it has its charms. Hope you enjoy!
