Description

This week we watched Disney's first ever live-action adaptation of their animated classic, "THE JUNGLE BOOK," starring Jason Scott Lee as the wild boy Mowgli who is raised in the Indian jungle and learns to respect and survive the dangers of his surroundings. This version of The Jungle Book might be missing it's talking animals but it still creates a romantic, adventurous story that will keep your attention the whole time. Mowgli encounters an old friend from his childhood named Kitty but he is swiftly captured by officers of the British Army, lead by Capt. William Boone, who is portrayed by Cary Elwes in a truly villainous role that takes some getting used to. When the officers find a jeweled dagger on Mowgli, they are determined to find the rest of the treasure and so begins the process of reintroducing Mowgli to "civilized" society. But the more Mowgli learns about what it is to be a man, the more he longs to return to his Jungle home with it's simple law: "Kill only to eat or prevent from being eaten." Along with the help of his animal companions, Baloo the Bear, Bagheera the Panther and Grey Wolf, Mowgli will learn about his place in the world.

A truly well constructed film from the director of "THE MUIMMY" and "THE MUMMY RETURNS." We hope you enjoy.

Be sure to vote on what we watch/review next week:

INSPECTOR GADGET - Based upon the cartoon series of the same name, a naive and law-abiding security guard is forced into critical condition and thanks to a new law-enforcement program, is given a body full of useless gadgetry to help maintain the law. He's always on duty. Starring Matthew Broderick as the titular lead.

OR

FLUBBER - Robing Williams plays an absent-minded professor who discovers a new compound he calls Flubber, which, in addition to being sentient and goofy and bouncy, is able to cause vehicles to fly. Filled with fun slapstick and plenty of quintessential Robin Williams to go around.
