In the final episode of the podcast series "DISNEY CHANNEL SURFERS," Jacob and KC brought in a very special guest, their little sister Guess, to review the classic NOT-Disney film, "THE SWAN PRINCESS."
The story is based upon the tale of Swan Lake with a few alterations. Odette is a beautiful princess who grows up being constantly courted by Prince Derek of a nearby kingdom, at the behest of the parents. Through the years Derek and Odette haven't exactly got along but when Derek see's how pretty Odette has become, he wants to arrange that marriage. But Odette needs more than surface attraction, so she declines on the arrangement. A evil sorcerer with eyes for Odette's kingdom, kidnaps Odette and places a spell on her that will turn her into a swan by day and a human by night. Thus begins the prince's search for Odette and the Great Animal that killed her. This movie was the product of a Disney animator who left the company, and it shows both in the relatively good quality animation and the musical breaks. There are also some pretty enjoyable side characters in a delusional frog named Jean-Bob (John Cleese), a Eeyore-esque Turtle named Speed (Steven Wright) and a scrappy Puffin Penguin. Hope you enjoy revisiting this movie you probably thought was a Disney movie but actually isn't.
To all our listeners, we thank you for joining us as we review and revisit some of our favorite Disney movies and look forward to continuing our Rewatch and review of movies from our childhood in the new podcast we are calling "THE MOVIE CONNECTION." Which will have it's premier episode in the first week of June, so keep an eye out for that wherever you listen to podcast's.
