KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST

Willa is a professional event rider, this is someone who rides horses for a living and does competitions in all 3 disciplines: dressage, show jumping and cross country on one horse.   Having been riding for most of her life, Willa has been doing this full time for the last 8 years since leaving university and hopes to one day make the British team.

Willa has had a couple of setbacks with injury and she says that when you have set backs, it makes you appreciate the good days even more and that's why it's so important to love what you do.

Legacy for Willa is building a successful business around the sport, she’d like to be known as a great competitor but also a good horse woman, someone who was initiative with the horses.  Legacy can also be about giving back and as someone who feels that she’d been blessed in the business, Willa feels that she should give back when she can especially when faced with eager apprentices who want to learn and grow, just as she had wanted when she was in their position.

Willa designed a piece with Roseanna which she finds really special and she talks about the experience of the design and it is that memory that also adds to the value of the piece.   It’s a delicate and dainty 18 carat yellow gold earrings with aquamarine drops and a ring to match, designed because she can’t wear much when competing.

Her advice on living a meaningful life and leaving a legacy, Willa says, keep learning and looking forward because when you stop learning, you close yourself to new opportunities.
