One aspect that often gets left out when embarking on self-development is embracing the negative aspects of ourselves or the characteristics in ourselves that we dimmed as negative. Shadow work is a practice of accepting, healing, and giving love to parts of ourselves that we tend to reject or attack. By accepting our humanness, we understand ourselves better and learn to love ourselves more.
