Attachment to outcome is like a chain can can keep us stuck in ego. Symbolically, think of it like the chain to be seen in the Devil tarot card, that keeps us in bondage to our lower natures, so to speak. One might believe that in order to be happy, things have to happen a certain way, and that we need to control the outcome for that purpose, and we may well suffer as a result. Letting go is key.
