What if the latter is a bit like a 'fallen' or distorted equivalent of the former? {like some interpretations of the relationship between the Tree of Good and Evil and the Tree of Life in the Kaballah (shells falling off the tree of life when it was created, and becoming a fallen/distorted tree 'beneath' it.)}
