Hello and welcome to the podcast ‘Big Thoughts – Small Sides’ where I will be interviewing some of the best coaches in the game to
delve into their coaching minds and find their use of small sided games in their elite performance environment.
Today's interview is with Jon McCarthy, who is the assistant manager of Southport FC First Team. Jon made over 700 career league appearances
as a player, as well as 18 appearances for Northern Ireland. Jon joined the backroom staff at Chester before taking the managerial job following the dismissal of Steve Burr. He then went on to Port Vale working as the fitness coach. And is now in the position of assistant manager under Liam Watson at Southport.
