Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Romans 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
I am DEAD to SIN
1 John 3:4 “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.”
“Sin”- Greek word: HAMARTIA- “missing the MARK” (intentionally or unintentionally) of God’s moral STANDARD or law as described in His word.
5 Reasons Sin is a Big Deal:
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death
Romans 6:11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 51:5 Surely I was sinful at birth sinful from the time my mother conceived me.
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
God’s GRACE does not simply address our ISSUES, it changes our IDENTITY.
Romans 6:3-8 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Sin is a ruthless MASTER disguised as a fun-loving FRIEND.
Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
Do not MANAGE sin, MURDER it.
Romans 6:13 Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Romans 6:14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Grace is not PERMISSION to sin; it is the POWER to live free.
Romans 7:24-25 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!
