I am MORE than a CONQUEROR

Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

A conqueror- does the WORK, gets the REWARD.

More than a conqueror- does NO work, but because of RELATIONSHIP, gets the REWARD.

1 Corinthians 15:56-57 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Being ATTACKED is inevitable, but being DEFEATED is unacceptable.

4 Questions to ask when under attack: Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If GOD is for us, WHO can be against us?

1.    The OPPOSITION Question

Our opposition:

·      The FLESH

·      The DEVIL

·      The WORLD

The STRUGGLE seems great, but the SAVIOR is greater.

Deuteronomy 20:4 For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.

Romans 8:32 He who did not spare his own Son, but GAVE him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us ALL THINGS?

2.    The PROVISION Question

Jehovah-JIREH: “The LORD will provide” (Genesis 22:14).

The greater provision- Our SALVATION

The lesser provision- Our STUFF or SATISFACTION

Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus

Romans 8:33 Who will bring any CHARGE against those whom God has chosen?

3.    The ACCUSATION Question

Satan is called the “father of LIES” (John 8:44) and the “ACCUSER of our brothers and sisters” (Revelation 12:10) because his two main weapons are to DECEIVE you and bring up your PAST.

2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Romans 8:34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

Romans 8:35 Who shall SEPARATE us from the LOVE of Christ?

4.    The LOVE Question

Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

My love for God isn’t CONTINGENT on what He continues to do for me but is CONSTANT because of what He did on the cross.

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God’s love isn’t based on FEELINGS but based on FACTS.

1 John 4:9-11 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

“God loves EACH of us as if there were only ONE of us.”—Augustine
