Description

Luke 10:30-37 Jesus replied with a story: “A Jewish man was traveling from

Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of

his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road.   “By chance a priest

came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of

the road and passed him by. A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him

lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.   “Then a despised Samaritan

came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to

him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged

them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he

took care of him. The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling

him, ‘Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the next

time I’m here.’   “Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the

man who was attacked by bandits?” Jesus asked.   The man replied, “The one who

showed him mercy.” Then Jesus said, “Yes, now go and do the same.”

PEOPLE are our PURSUIT.

PEOPLE are our PROBLEM.

PEOPLE are out PAIN.

PEOPLE are our PURSUIT.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that

they may have life, and have it to the full.

You might be DOWN, but you are not OUT.

HOPE = things can CHANGE.

God’s PEOPLE are His solution to man’s PROBLEMS.

2 Corinthians 5:20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal

through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”

God never consults our PEDIGREE to see if we have PURPOSE.

Luke 10:33 “Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he

felt compassion for him.

1. People deserve our COMPASSION.

PRAYER deposits PASSION.

Where there is a lack of PASSION there is usually a lack of PRAYER.

Matthew 9:36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they

were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Luke 10:34 Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil

and wine and bandaged them.

2. People deserve our CARE.

“Sympathy is no substitute for ACTION.”—David Livingston

People do not care what you KNOW, until they know that you CARE.

Don’t let the frustration of not being able to do EVERYTHING keep you

from doing SOMETHING.

James 4:17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is

sin for them.

Luke 10:34-35 Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn,

where he took care of him. The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins,

telling him, ‘Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I’ll pay you the

next time I’m here.’

3. People deserve our long-term COMMITMENT.

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people

think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be

destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them

in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them

to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to

the very end of the age.”
