Description

Mark 10:46-52 Then they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a

large crowd followed him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was

sitting beside the road.   When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he

began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” “Be quiet!” many of the

people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” So they called

the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, he’s calling you!” Bartimaeus threw

aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?”

Jesus asked. “My Rabbi,” the blind man said, “I want to see!” And Jesus said to

him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed

Jesus down the road.

PRAY FIRST

HOW you pray determines WHO you become.

How To Pray:

1. Pray SPECIFIC

Mark 10:47 When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to

shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Mark 10:51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My Rabbi,” the

blind man said, “I want to see!”

What do you want Jesus to do for you?

It takes FAITH to get SPECIFIC.

What are you praying for in the last quarter of the year?

Spiritual, Relational, Financial, Health, Career, Other

2. Pray OUT LOUD

Mark 10:47 When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to

shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Our words have the POWER to change THINGS.

Mark 11:22-24 Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth,

you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it

will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your

heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.

Praying out loud keeps me FOCUSED.

3. Pray BOLDLY

Hebrews 4:16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

Mark 10:48-51 “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, he’s calling you!” Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My Rabbi,” the blind man said, “I want to see!”

I John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask

anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears

us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

“Bold prayers honor God, and God honors bold prayers. God isn’t offended by

your biggest dreams or boldest prayers. He is offended by anything less. If your

prayers aren’t IMPOSSIBLE to you, they are INSULTING to God.”—Mark

Batterson

4. Pray BELIEVING (TRUSTING)

The devil’s greatest WEAPON against your prayer life is DOUBT.

James 5:16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be

healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces

wonderful results.
