Description

Psalms 23:1-6 NIV 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul.He guides me along the right pathsfor his name’s sake. 4 Even though I walkthrough the darkest valley,I will fear no evil, for you are with me;your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before mein the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil;my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I have a GOOD SHEPHERD.

1 Samuel 17:34-35 NLT 34 But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, 35 I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death.

We serve a PERSONAL God who desires a personal RELATIONSHIP with us.

“A sheep is an object of property, not a wild animal; it's owner sets great store by it, and frequently it is bought with a great price. It is well to know, as certainly as David did, that we belong to the Lord. There is a noble tone of confidence about this sentence. There is no ‘if’ nor ‘but,’ nor even ‘I hope so;’ but he says, “The Lord is my shepherd.’" - Charles Spurgeon

1. As sheep we are prone to WANDER.

Isaiah 53:6 NLT 6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own.Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all.

I have a shepherd who RESCUES and REDIRECTS my life.

God’s DISCIPLINE is His way of DIRECTING us.

2. As sheep we are constantly ATTACKED.

1 Peter 5:8 NLT 8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

I have a shepherd who PROTECTS me.

John 10:11 NLT 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.

3. As sheep we need continual CARE.

Psalms 23:1 NIV 1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

I have a shepherd who PROVIDES all my needs.Contentment comes not from WHAT we have but WHOM we have.

Worry is dealing with tomorrow’s PROBLEM with today’s PASTURE.
