Despite his artist name, Thinking Silly is a serious thinker. Part of the Hotel Rexford collective, of which includes Louie Jacobs who was one of the first interviews on this show, Thinking Silly operates in many musical spaces, from rap to slow piano ballads, all of which are super raw and have interesting stories to tell. During our talk, I was so impressed with the way Thinking Silly crafts his musical identity. If something doesn’t stick or isn’t 100% on brand, like an album, then he simply removes it in favor of bolstering the more important parts of that persona. Also, forgive my voice in this interview, I had allergies or something. Regardless, this was an excellent conversation. Listen to Thinking Silly’s new album “Unfortunately Essential,” out now.
