RJ JILBERT LEPCHA from Kalimpong presents an hour long show on Lepcha language and culture interspersed with some lovely and lively Lepcha folk songs. The program is entitled: Thupay Amuring -01.

He says, Lepcha Language is the one of the ancient languages of the Himalayas. It is believed that Lepcha speakers are about 1.5 lakhs in West Bengal. Lepcha language is spoken in North Bengal specially Kalimpong and Darjeeling District, as well as Sikkim, Eastern Part of Nepal and South Western part of Bhutan.

Lepcha Language is an independent language with its own script.

The Deed Paper between Sikkim Maharaja and the British East India Company was written in Lepcha Language. Lepcha Language was an official language during British Administration up to 1911.

There is no any abusive words in Lepcha language. It is the language with natural sound. When you speak you will feel eternal peace and happiness.

Lepcha Language is also called as 'Rumring' which means language of God.
