What is grief actually, and why is it so hard of a concept for us to wrap our heads around?? Our society really focusing on staying in the pleasant feelings, and steers clear of the unpleasant ones, and that makes it even harder for us to move through them. Tough things happen to all of us, so maybe we need to get a little more comfortable with the idea that they do. I loved this conversation I was lucky to have with Shauna Thaler Adeland. Shauna is a Social Worker with over 16 years of clinic experience. She also teaches, and speaks in the community around the topic of grief, mental health and wellness. She took a particular interest in the study of Thanatology (death and dying) in her undergraduate and has spent her professional life supporting clients through the grieving process. We explore what grief is, how it can show up, and how we can learn to be with it for ourselves and for our loved ones. I am a big advocate of grief counselling and seeking support through the process. If you would like to connect with Shauna for more information on her work you can find her at www.therapywithshauna.ca
