Description

This week we will be joined by Dr Chrissy Stachl (she/her/ella)!

Chrissy earned her PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley in 2020. She is now the Director of Education, Outreach, and Diversity at the Center for Genetically Encoded Materials. Chrissy started her PhD in physical chemistry, as one of only a few Latinx students in her department of over 400 graduate students. Her experiences during the first two years of her program motivated her to find ways to diversity her department and make it more inclusive. After launching a longitudinal study of her department’s academic climate, Chrissy switched into a chemistry education group and spent the rest of her PhD studying sense of belonging and the role it plays within academic culture. You can find out more about Chrissy on her Twitter (@ChrissyStachl) and Instagram (@chrissystachl) accounts!
