In today’s episode of the Farm Team Podcast I am proudly joined by my Sister, Erika Burton. Erika currently resides in Victoria, BC with her husband Tyler and their two awesome dogs Lloyd and Lola. Erika has called the Island home since 2013 while she attended Camosun College and played for the Chargers Varsity Women’s Volleyball team. In 2015 Erika graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree and as a National Bronze medalist.
The 2015 Canadian College Athletic Association (CCAA) National Women’s Volleyball Championship will go down as one of the most exciting sporting events I’ve ever witnessed. It was an incredible tournament and even more incredible of a display of leadership and resiliency from Erika and her fellow Chargers.
After graduation, Erika rejoined the Women’s Volleyball Program in a new capacity as an Assistant Coach funded by Sports Canada, and the Female Apprentice Coach Program. She was 1 of 12 individuals across Canada to be selected to this incredible coach mentorship program, offered by the CCAA. Her continued passion for giving back to the next generation of student-athletes is something that should be celebrated and I couldn’t be more proud of the person and leader she has become today.
Throughout our conversation today we are going to revisit some of the highlights and achievements Erika has accomplished in both sport and in life. Erika is one of the most athletically gifted people I know, and is a perfect example of what a multi-sport athlete is. I hope to learn more about her experience growing up and playing sports and I look forward to shining some light onto the incredible person she is.
