In today's episode of The Farm Team podcast I am pleased to be joined by the creator of Mend the End, Sophie McGovern. Mend the End is a platform that Sophie recently started that highlights an ex-athletes' experiences, advice, and thoughts on all things hockey.

Sophie hales from Hermantown, Minnesota where she started on skates at the age of 4 and played her way through minor hockey and an impressive 5 years of Minnesota State High School hockey. Her senior year she was awarded the Herb Brooks Award which is given to the most qualified hockey player in the state tournament who strongly represents the values, characteristics, and traits that define Herb Brooks.

During her high school years Sophie earned an athletic and academic scholarship to play for the Norwich University Cadets where she played 4 seasons and graduated as team captain in 2020. Throughout her athletic journey she accumulated many personal and team awards including a National Championship, being named as an All-American, an All-American Scholar, and was featured in Sports Illustrated for her impressive game winning goal to win the 2018 National Championship.

This past season Sophie was one of many unfortunate players to have to endure the hardships of the pandemic. Not only was their season ended abruptly, all the excitement that goes into graduating university also faded into abyss. I sincerely look forward to talking with Sophie today about her experience as a student-athlete and what inspired her to start the Mend The End platform.
