Description

Join Rev. Emily E. Ewing (they) and Rev. Kay Rohloff (she) and special guest Pace Warfield-May (they) to explore new and nerdy connections to the scripture for Reformation Day, which falls on October 31st this and every year (though it may be commemorated on the closest Sunday), including our deep dive into Martin Luther and the Reformation!

The scripture we refer to for this episode can be found here.  If Pace’s voice sounds familiar, it’s because Pace was a guest with Horror Nerds At Church Podcast co-host Joe for our Easter 3 episode this year!  Also, if you want to learn more about the Reformation, check out this blog post Emily did about lesser-known Reformers from the Reformation to our contemporaries, or track down Pace’s recommendations: Women of the Reformation by Kirsi Stjerna, Martin Luther, the Bible and the Jewish People by Brooks Schramm and Kirsi Stjerna, and the first two volumes of The Annotated Luther.  We also mentioned our episode on the 15th Sunday after Pentecost, when Jesus learns from the Syrophoenician woman whom he insults, and our episode on the 16th Sunday after Pentecost, where we deep dive into learning (and teaching) hard things.  Pace also references the episode of HNAC on The Witch, which comes out October 28th.  Don’t forget to check out The Lutheran Insulter for some terribly great and some just plain terrible insults!

CN: we talk about Martin Luther’s antisemitism during part of the deep dive.
