Ancrum, is the author of
the award winning thriller THE WICKER KING,
the interstellar lesbian romance THE WEIGHT OF THE STARS and the Peter Pan thriller DARLING. K.
She is a Chicago native passionate about diversity and representation in young adult fiction. She currently writes most of her work in the lush gardens of the Chicago Art Institute. She shares her story of finding her love for writing and how she developed that in her new full-time career as an author.
Kayla also unpacks how she incorporates her diverse experiences into her stories in the hopes that others will find themselves and some hope in the characters she creates. She also offers some great advice to the working artist on how to pick the right side hustle that won’t interfere with your craft.
