Imagine if John Prine had an emo phase or if Chris Carrabba met Johnny Cash — that’s the sound of Jeremy Nathan. Drawing inspiration from alt-country artists Jason Isbell & Ruston Kelly, Jeremy combines confessional lyrics, moody vocals reminiscent of Bright Eyes and folk instrumentation into emotive and resonant songs. Seasoned from years touring in the emo scene and grounded in his south central Kansas roots, Jeremy has seamlessly found a home in the alt-country scene. Sharing the stage with emo icons Aaron Gillespie (Underoath/The Almost), The Spill Canvas, All Get Out and Real Friends, Jeremy is building a home in the genre with honest songs about heartbreak, loss, healing and hope.
In today’s episode Jeremy and I dive into a myriad of captivating subjects, ranging from the interplay between art and marketing to the intricacies of the songwriting process. Our mutual appreciation for Rick Rubin also fueled some engaging conversations,. It’s a great episode enjoy
