This episode is a recording of a panel that occurred on November 2 2021, the first anniversary of the 2020 US election.

The panel was titled: The 2020 US Election and Covid-19: One Year On.

The panel featured:

• Chair: Dr Eldrid Herrington (Cambridge University & Queen Mary, University of London)

• Dr Peter Finn (Kingston University)

• Madison Imiola (Washington State Human Rights Commission)

• Dr Robert Ledger (Frankfurt Goethe University & Schiller University Heidelberg)

The panel built on a series of comment pieces being published on the LSE USAPP site. The first two of these are:

• Trump’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic ensured that he lost, rather than was defeated in, the 2020 election
• The 2020 election can’t be understood without considering the role of the COVID-19 pandemic

The panel also built on a briefing paper published earlier this year titled: 

Pandemic Politics: Covid-19 and the 2020 US Electoral Cycle.
