Our newest episode of the Hillel at Home podcast features Brian Michael Bendis, an Amazon and New York Times bestseller, American comic book writer, and artist. Bendis has worked for Marvel, most notably introducing multiracial Spiderman. And, in 2017, Bendis announced he’d be inclusively working for DC; he currently writes Man of Steel, Superman, Action comics and is curating a custom line of DC comics later this year.
Brian grew up in Cleveland and attended a modern orthodox all-boys day school. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Alisa, his daughters Olivia, Tabatha, Sabrina, his son London, and his dogs Lucky and Max.
In this podcast episode, Bendis discusses the Jewish superhero he’s been working on, being a “Marvel kid,” but a “DC teenager,” and how his adopted daughters inspired him to make Spiderman multiracial and give more positive representation to minorities in the media.
